Channel Islands March 2018

California’s Channel Islands are amazing!  Situated just off the coast south of Santa Barbara, California, its kelp forests and amazing visibility are second to none. These unique islands offer homes to many endemic species and subspecies. With temperatures ranging from 48° to 75° F, there are a variety of animals that make their home here as well as opportunities […]

Santa Cruz Island – Dec 17

California’s Santa Cruz Island is one of my favorite places to dive! Because conditions were not that great for this area, we stuck to Big Rock for all our dives. The water was cold (58 F) but it was great diving with the Spectre and warming up in their jacuzzi between dives. Dove December 2017.Highlights: getting a […]

Santa Barbara Surge & Swell

Had a good dive off the beach in Santa Barbara. The conditions looked promising but it turned out to be very “surgy”. Saw many spanish shawl nudibranchs, jellyfish, lobster, and more! Dove with some good company off of Campus Point, Santa Barbara, California May 2017.

Lake Tahoe – Diving Sand Harbor

Lake Tahoe – Diving Sand Harbor

Lake Tahoe is located inland on the California and Nevada border. I dove on a sunny warm day in June. The water/snow-melt is definitely a bit chilly (my dive computer marked 52°F). But if you’re not near an ocean, it’s a fun, mellow and a safe dive. I enjoyed finding the crawdads and zeroing in […]
